Profiled | Home of the Hogan Family
In early 2015, Kimmy Hogan, her husband Nick, and their three sons moved into a modest 1950s weatherboard cottage in East Geelong, Victoria, planning it as a temporary home. But over time, they decided to stay and transform it into their dream space.
With local builder Arca Build and interior designer Aimee Wheate, they renovated the entire home—expanding the bathroom, creating a master suite, and reconfiguring the kitchen and living areas for better light and flow, all while preserving their backyard. Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls added warmth and enhanced the home's cosy, airy feel.

Handmade Tiles that Make a Statement in Every Room
For Kimmy and Nick, the design process was a rewarding experience—selecting finishes, colours, and materials that truly reflected their style. Guided by their interior designer, everything came together seamlessly, with a standout feature being the handmade tiles from Tiles of Ezra. As they shared,
“We chose Tiles of Ezra for our home as we love the imperfect, rustic look of the handmade tiles. We didn’t want a ‘new’ feel in our home renovation, and these tiles instantly added the character and warmth that we desired. They are simply beautiful and will age well with a boisterous family of five.”
Ensuite: Bejmat Latte 5x15
In the ensuite, the Hogans went for a Mediterranean-inspired design, creating soft, understated stripes using Bejmat Latte. The low contrast between the two shades lends a sense of calm and relaxation to the space, creating a private sanctuary for Kimmy and Nick. Pair it with our EZTIER1505 Nieve to achieve the look.
Main Bathroom: Nieve 10x10
In the kids' bathroom, the Hogans opted for Nieve 10x10 tiles to wrap seamlessly around the built-in bath. The neutral tone creates a calming base, perfect for adding pops of colour through accessories like towels and playful décor that can be easily swapped as the children grow.
Kitchen & Butler’s Pantry: Nieve & Latte 10x10
The butler’s pantry brings a fun, unexpected element with a checkerboard design using Nieve and Latte tiles. The checkerboard splashback, illuminated by natural light from the overhead skylight, adds charm and intrigue to the space—a delightful surprise for anyone walking through.
Powder Room: Nieve & Manuka 10x10
Continuing the checkerboard pattern, the Hogans chose a playful Nieve and Manuka floor for the powder room, adding bold personality and a fun surprise for guests in this small space.
