Profiled | A Farmhouse Retreat
Mount Marrow Transformation
In the serene countryside of Mount Marrow, QLD, a 1920s cottage has been lovingly transformed into a warm and inviting family home. This is the story of Tim, Lauren, and their children, Kai and Rue, and how they turned a cold, outdated space into a charming farmhouse retreat.
The Initial Vision: Warmth and Cohesion
Tim and Lauren’s dream was to convert their cold, outdated cottage into a cosy, welcoming haven. They aimed to blend traditional farmhouse elements with modern touches, creating a harmonious balance of old and new. Without an architect, they reimagined the home’s footprint, enclosing the front deck and adding stone to the façade for a nostalgic feel. Their meticulous redesign included ample cabinetry to ensure an effortless flow and organisation, turning the cottage into a warm, cohesive space.
A Versatile Palette
For the heart of their home, Tim and Lauren chose our EZR1550 Thin Snow Bejmat. The handmade nature of these tiles appealed to their desire for authenticity and warmth. Lauren loved the variation in colour within each tile, adding movement, texture, and a sense of warmth to the new finishes. The handmade tiles were essential in softening the space and avoiding the sterile feel that often accompanies new materials.
Grey with a Chameleon Quality
The chosen colour palette was a subtle grey base, carefully selected for its chameleon-like quality. Depending on the time of day, the colour shifts, working beautifully with both cool greys and warm beiges. This fluidity allowed Lauren to easily pair accessories in either colour range, creating a versatile and dynamic living environment.A Completed Dream: A Family’s New Beginning
Completed in 2022, this renovation marks a new chapter for the family of four. Tim, Lauren, Kai, and Rue now enjoy a home that is not only functional and beautiful but also filled with personal touches and thoughtful design choices.
